2022 AGM

On Monday 10th January The Wessex V&V held it’s 2022 AGM and post AGM filmshow. Despite Covid and several apologies for absence the meeting was well attended with members from near and far making the trip to Silton.  The AGM was conducted with efficiency and panache by our Chairman Ian Clarke and the business of the day was completed in a respectable time.  After 7 years as Secretary carrying out sterling work and ably assisting the Chair to keep the Section running like a well oiled swiss watch, Bette Barber stood down and received the grateful thanks of all members at the meeting. Martin Goodman was elected as the new Section Secretary unopposed (by default!)  and,  as Ian Clarke pointed out, continuing his family tradition of Section Secretarial duties. The committee remained unchanged from last year with the exception of Bette Barber who volunteered to take a place on the committee if the Section would like her to serve.  This kind offer from Bette was however overtaken by events as there were Two propositions tabled at the meeting :-

  1. That the Wessex V&V Section elects an Honorary President and that the position is a lifetime role or until the incumbent wishes to step down.
  2. That Bette Barber in recognition for all her efforts and invaluable contribution to the Section in its first 10 years be elected the Wessex Veteran and Vintage’s First Honorary President.

Needless to say that both propositions were carried unanimously and Bette Barber was duly elected as our 1st President. Congratulations Bette !
